Lip Filler

I’ve been using lip filler for about a year now and I don’t know if I could ever go back to my former thin- lipped life. I love it. No down time, instant results, long lasting effects and it’s a great, relatively inexpensive, noninvasive way to boost your self esteem.
Q & A
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Yes. The degree of pain depends on what your pain tolerance is. I have a fairly high tolerance for pain, but even with numbing cream, it’s uncomfortable as hell. NOT excruciating, but definitely uncomfy.

Q: Is it expensive?
A: Comparitively, no. In the world of cosmetic enhancements, lip filler is pretty cheap. It’s a small area, first of all and it’s fairly easy to do. Like every other product, you get what you pay for. If you want something that lasts longer and looks more natural, it’s definitely worth it to pay a big more. A lot of day spas having great specials, but I personally only get mine done at a cosmetic surgeon’s office.

Q: Do the results last?
A: Surprisingly, yes. Even before I was sure I wanted to keep this puffed up pout, I knew I didn’t want to pay for something that my body would absorb in a month. Luckily, modern fillers have a great track record for lasting and being super safe. I generally only have to do it twice a year now.

Q: But what if I decide I don’t want the filler? Will it stretch out my lip shape?
A: The human body is an amazing piece of work. I’ve known a few people who opted to stop getting lip filler and none of them have had an issue with lip shape afterwards. I don’t know if that’s typical for everyone, though, so def discuss with your provider beforehand.

Q: What if they are too big?
A: They do settle a bit after a few days, as does any slight bruising at injection points. They also soften up quite a bit after week one, making them feel much less inflated.

Q: Anything they don’t tell you?
A: I, for one, did not know about the extra dryness that could come with extra lippage. You may need to exfoliate gently and use lip moisturizer more often than usual. More lip – less moisture for me.
